HELEN BUSS

1914-2014

ROCKVALE, TENN.- Helen Louise Buss of Rockvale, Tenn., formerly of Wooster, passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2014. 

She was born August 5, 1914 in Wapekoneta to Gertrude and Harley Pfaff, and moved with her family to Wooster in 1926. Helen attended Wooster High School and The College of Wooster, graduating with a degree in music. Following college, she studied in New York City at the Julliard School of Music.

Helen was a soloist for several churches in Wooster and had taught in several Wayne County school systems. She worked for Triway Local Schools for fourteen years, and was a choir director for Trinity Church of Christ for many years. 

Surviving are Julianne Squier, (James, deceased) of Fairfax, Va., Dr. Kay Grothaus, (Ronald) of Camden, Mich., Dr. David Buss, (Marcia) of Oakton, Va., MaryJo Cherney, (Richard), of Rockvale, Tenn.; grandchildren John and Jeanne Squier,  Matthew, Roger and Laura Grothaus, Alexandra Adams and Francesca Buss, Lauren and Rachel Csonka and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roger E. Buss in 1966, and a brother, Bernard Pfaff.

The family will receive friends and family on Thursday from noon- 2:00pm at Trinity United Church of Christ, Wooster where services will follow at 2pm. Graveside services will be held in Wooster Cemetery immediately following the services.
