David W Sprang, 57, of Cambridge, and formerly of Shreve, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus,. Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shreve United Methodist Church, 430 N. Main St., Shreve, with the Rev. Bill Laswson officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted. Friends may call Saturday at the church from 4-6 and 7-9 p.m.schlaback 

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Shreve United Methodist Church. Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve is handling arrangements.

He was born May 4, 1951, in Wooster, to Benjamin B. and Alta E. (Porter)  Sprang and married Susan Airhart on Nov. 7, 1972, She survives.

He was a member of the Shreve United Methodist Church and Shreve American Legion Forest Post 67. He had been employed at Shelley Brothers Ford and Contours prior to working in the oil and gas industry, where he had worked for Haliburton, Universal and Lastly for Flame Energy.

He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are two children, Nicole (Michael) Woodruff of Shreve and Marc (Santina) Sprang of Macedonia; four grandchildren, Brittney and Nathan Woodruff  and Isabella and Keegan Sprang; three brothers, Bob (Louise)Sprang of Wooster, Irvin (Kathy) Sprang of Strasburg and Leslie (Sandra) Sprang of Riverview, Fla.; seven sisters, Doris Meyers (and Jim) of Troy, Freda (Stephen) Myer of Shreve, Shirley (Alfred "Red") Ernst of Lakeville, Treva Sprang (Tom Woodruff)  of Holmesville, Linda (Donnie) Strock of Moreland, Lois (Winston) Gard of Shreve, and Loretta (Scott) Spitler of Wooster; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parnets and a brother, Donald.
